Empowering Schools & Students
Building on the success of our educational initiatives, Project Velicham serves as a beacon of hope across the Thiruvallur District (Puzhal, Ponneri, and Minjur Blocks). This project is a multi-dimensional mission dedicated to school-based empowerment, vocational training for women, and comprehensive community support.
We currently support over 350 students across six key government institutions and hostels:
ADW Primary & Middle Schools: Pallipuram and Vilangattupakkam.
Social Justice (Samooga Needhi) Hostels: Vadakarai, Vembakkam, and Ponneri.
High School: Subba Reddy Palayam.
Student Development
Infrastructure & Health: Installed RO Water Machines at Pallipuram, Ponneri, and Subbareddypalayam schools to ensure safe drinking water.
Academic & Skill Support: Distributed thousands of Stationery Kits, storybooks, and library resources while conducting Soft Skills and Mental Health Wellbeing sessions.
Environmental Stewardship: Organized “World Environmental Day” programs and tree plantation drives, planting over 50 saplings at the Pallipuram campus.
Sports & Recreation: Provided complete sports kits—including chess boards, carrom, volleyballs, and skipping ropes—to the Vadakarai Girls Hostel.
Menstrual Health Awareness: Conducted interactive sessions and distributed Sanitary Napkins and reusable water bottles to female students in collaboration with the Rotary Club.
Exposure Visits: Organized transformative field trips to the Guindy Children’s Park, Birla Planetarium, and Anna Centenary Library to bridge the gap between textbooks and the real world.
Women’s Empowerment: Self-Help Groups (SHG)
Project Velicham actively fosters economic independence through our Women’s Self-Help Groups:
Vocational Training: Women receive professional training in manufacturing household essentials like Soap Powder, Phenyl, and Masala making (8 varieties).
Livelihood Support: Provided Tailoring Machines and initiated machinery support through CSR partnerships to help women start home-based businesses.
Financial Inclusion: Assisting members with interest mapping, social challenge resolution, and formal bank account openings.
Community Support & Healthcare
We believe a thriving community is the foundation for a child’s success:
Medical Outreach: Conducted Free General Medical Camps in collaboration with Help Age India and Vels Hospital, providing free medicines and facilitating 6 life-changing cataract surgeries.
Economic Relief: Distributed 25kg Rice Bags, sarees, and groceries to underprivileged families during festivals like Pongal and Diwali.
Employment Opportunities: Organized a Village Mega Job Fair at Subbareddypalayam, where 35 out of 50 participants secured immediate job placements.
Cultural Unity: Celebrated Samathuva Pongal, bringing together Panchayat officials and community members to promote equality and unity.
“By providing clean water, essential skills, and healthcare, Project Velicham does more than provide relief—it lights a path toward a self-reliant and dignified future for every student and family in Thiruvallur.”
